Week 6 EOC: These Three Things Define Me

My Tobias 5 string bass guitar. Not only does this piece of beauty symbolize a huge part of my life, but also it is my life! I started playing the bass when I was in church it was my second love next to the drums. This defines me because it helped me to overcome challenges in life that people told me I could not do. It taught me how to how with the flow of life and how to conquer all of the lows. It's made out of beautiful Mahogany wood coupled with unique color combinations. I love this thing! I first fell in love with this beast of an instrument when I saw it played in Washington DC on a famous Gospel record by some of the worlds famous musicians.

My OVO God hat is my second item that helps me think of home. It reminds me of my church family back at home. I love them to death and this helps me to remember that Gods grace is a couple of steps behind me at all times. It also helps me to remember the request of my Grandmother too. She always tells me to pray when I need help through out life. Plus it’s a God balance symbol for my life.

My college Associates Degree in Business Administrations would be my next one on this list. However this deserves to be at number one on my list. This piece of paper helps me to realize that anything is possible with my life. If I try hard, work hard I can do it all I can achieve it I can conquer almost anything.  I got this when I graduated with my Associates from J Sarg Reynolds College back at home. This also gave people in my family encouragement to chase their dreams which meant a lot to me.

Week 5 EOC: Social Networks and Jobs

I found an article where it talks about this very thing. Job are beginning replaced by the social media frenzy it is something that I think will continue to grow. According to this quote on Doughroller.net, “The linear job hunt process of advertisement-application-interview-offer has been replaced. These days, half of all jobs are never openly advertised. Landing your dream position relies as much on making yourself visible, and connecting to the right people in a competitive market, as it does your qualifications. This is precisely where social media smarts can give you the necessary leg up.” This means that social media is the new place to get found for Job employment. If you go through these types of things to get employed then you will win in today’s job search. I really do think that this will give you an edge on the competition.

You have to separate your personal life while at the same time letting it shine throughout the recruiting process this is one way Doughroller.net says to make yourself standout. “Finding a new job is like a marketing exercise in which you are the only product. If this makes you feel a little uncomfortable, don’t lose heart – it’s not about the hard sell this time. In fact, with the platforms afforded by social media, you have a better opportunity than ever to show your substance as well as your style.” So when we say that you have to keep it private on social networks this is not what it means. It means something totally different. You have to structure your profile to catch a good lead too. This is different from back in the days of filling out an application and then turning it in to a person and that’s that. No, these days it is somebody scanning your profile and taking what they want from it and going from there.

Week 4 EOC: My App, "Findacian"

If I could make an app today it would be an app that helps musicians connect with other musicians who needs a songwriter. I find this to be something that would be needed for someone in my position. I have a problem finding good singer/songwriters who are serious about their work. In todays marketplace there aren’t a lot of serious musicians out there to connect with. So in order for a musician to signup for this app they would need to go through a music rights organization. Music Rights organizations are organizations like ASCAP and BMI. These organizations make sure that the musician, singer, songwriter are serious about their career and make sure that they are currently working in the field.

My app name would be “Findacian,” which I think really captures the essence of what I would like to create. I just recently went to a conference and noticed that other professionals agreed that this type of app would be very beneficial in their life. The current state of the industry has a couple of sites that exist. Sites like ourstage.com gives a similar solution but the only problem with this is they do not have it in app form. Plus it is super hard to navigate and find other musicians on the app.

I think my app would stand out among the competition because my app would artist an exclusive way to find key talent by pairing different musical styles and more. You could be a musician, producer, singer, songwriter and find a place on my app. Findacian would also offer great ways for sponsors to connect with a target audience. Giving brand partners access to a large number of customers who would enjoy being apart of their product services. This app is a game changer and an unique platform.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographic

According to the book Marketing: An Introduction, my demographic is pointed out for being a generation that is glued to digital technology. Is this the case maybe so. I think this is a very true statement to make as a matter of fact. As I look around even as I type this document I see tons of people around me using Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to communicate different messages to their friends. This makes advertising to my generation so easy to do. Basically all a company has to do is act s though they are taking the role of a persons peer and push the messages to them that’ll way. In chapter 3 on page 73 the book quotes “One thing that all of the Millennials have in common is their utter fluency and comfort with digital technology. They don’t just embrace technology, it’s a way of life.” This is the perfect excuse to push a message our way.

Facebook is the first company that capitalizes off of this access to Social media I mean look at it. Ever since college students got introduced to the brand back when Facebook could only be accessed with a college email address it said,
“This is how to be part of the team.” Meaning that if you are on this platform you are considered my friend and I am considered your friend. Then came along Twitter, which had the same concept of the inner circle vibe giving you access to peer to peer information but only in small bites of information. People were glued to this form of communication. They were like “Hey this is cool” I remember people going crazy about this.

Now we have platforms like Instagram, which is a photo sharing platform that allows you to share photos as a way to communicate without primarily using words. I agree with this we are stuck to our phones and unable to get lose from it.
